His biography

Cyril Pedrosa was born in 1972 and develops a passion for drawing and animation early, that is why he enters the prestigious Ecole des Gobelins for his studies. He is then hired by the Disney studios from 1996 to 1998 and works on the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercule. He meets David Chauvel there, a writer who was at the time looking for an illustrator. They start working together and create a four volumes long adventure named Ring Circus. This first attempt at making a comics is fruitful, thus they started two new series : Shaolin Moussaka which will allows Cyril Pedrosa to explore a new artistic language, and La Brigade Fantôme, targeted at a younger audience.

After getting confident in its art, the illustrator begins his first solo projects, starting with the one-shot Les coeurs solitaires. This first work gives an insight on what his future projects will deal with : loneliness, introspection and inner pain. His following work, Trois Ombres, deal with the death of a child in a modest way. This emotionally heavy graphic novel wins many prizes, including the one of the Essentiels at the Festival d'Angoulême in 2008. For the two issues of Auto Bio, Pedrosa switches to a new genre, adapting his drawings to depict the difficulties of an ecologically responsible life. His following work, Portugal, allows the author to continue exploring his favorite subjects and wins many awards (the Point de la BD prize, the Bédélys Monde Prize, The Libraires de la bande dessinée Prize as well as the Prix du public at the Festival d'Angoulême). Les Equinoxes, published in 2015 is also a success.

In 2017, Cyril Pedrosa starts to write instead of drawing, and releases Serum, a one-shot illustrated by Nicolas Gaignard. It deals with a lonely man who refuses to conform to society's rule. Finally, the artist starts working with the writer Roxanne Moreil for a medieval fantasy project named L'Âge d'or, where Pedrosa renews his art.
