From June 23rd to october 1st 2017, the city of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin dedicates its 8th Biennale du 9e art to Winsor McCay, comics genius and pioneer of the cartoon medium.
With more than 60 original drawings by the artist, « Winsor McCay — From Little Nemo to Lusitania » is the biggest retrospective dedicated to Winsor McCay in Europe. He is considered as a real legend in the comics world as well as one of the inventors of its codes, but he is also a pioneer of animated movies. The exhibition allows the visitor to discover the poetry and humor of the artist's universe.
This exhibition's scenography has been imagined by François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters with the collaboration of 9e Art Références and the Thomas Henry museum. (Sources : the city of Cherbourg and 9e Art Références)
