His biography

Frank Pé was born in Ixelles, Belgium, in 1956. Friend of animals since forever, he's an avid reader of the Journal de Tintin et de Spirou. The author specialized in animal drawings, which quickly became his trademark. He then entered the Saint-Luc School of Bruxelles where he studied arts, and started to publish drawings in the Spirou magazine in 1973, he learned the job of comic artist through this experience.

Frank Pé then created the character Brousaille, an alter-ego made of paper, allowing the author to express his opinion on topics that hold importance to him. This endearing daydreamer of a character has five volumes dedicated to him, with scenarios written by Bom except for the last one which is entirely carried out by Frank Pé. The first issue was published in 1987 and received a huge success : the series was massively rewarded, winning a dozen prizes (prix des Alpages de Sierre (1985), Grand Prix de Grenoble (1989) and the Alph'Art du public in Angoulême (1990), etc). The Zoo trilogy, which first issue, in collaboration with Philippe Bonifay was released in 1994 was a true stepstone in his career.

After this gigantic success, Frank Pé came back in 2008 with Portraits Héroïques, where he contemplates on authors and characters that inspired him throughout his carreer. The first one being Winsor McCay, the inventive creator of Little Nemo in Slumberland. Frank Pé dedicated two albums to him : Wake Up!, published in 2014 and Keep on Dreaming in 2012, both are limited edition. The second one deals with the famous Spirou and Fantasio, the fictional duo will go through new adventures in La Lumière de Bornéo, thanks to Zidrou's pen and Frank Pé's brush. In 2020, he publishes La Bête, which tells the story of the Marsupilami.

The belgian author is today busy with an andacious project : The Animalium, a zoological park displaying animal related artworks in all of their shapes. With this project, the illustrator establishes a dialogue between animals and their graphic interpretations. The author's two passions are going to be reunited in an outstanding place.
